Happy Natioinal Vinegar Day! First thing that came to mind was to make some finadenne' and have that be my way to celebrate Vinegar Day.  But that would be too easy, especially here on Guam.  So I set out in search of something with vinegar in it or flavored.  I found Marty's Cracklin' Salt and Vinegar flavored chicharons.  These chicharons are really good! Vinegar flavor is not too strong, and is not too salty either.  I think it goes perfectly with a beer or two.  At 89¢ this is an amazing deal!  Most chips in the aisle average about $5 a bag, so I have no problem buying 2 or 5 of these at a time.  As good as they taste, you will need more than one bag.  Don't plan on sharing either, as soon as you know it the bag is empty.  And if you're like me you'll find yourself opening another bag.

The first thing I thought of on National Potato Day was chips.  I was browsing the snack aisle at Pay-Less for some new bold or wacky flavor, when I saw this bag of awesomeness.  I didn't know the name of these "Karamucho Sticks" until today, and only because I'm doing this review.  These chips have been one of my favorite snacks since I was a kid.  So much flavor is packed into these little sticks of goodness, with just the right amount of heat.  One obvious thing to note, is the "stick" form, they chose to make these in.  Although very delicious, they can fight back, if not eaten carefully.

If you throw a handful of these bad boys in your mouth, and just one of them is at the wrong angle, you will experience some of the most intense mouth pain ever.  Yes, it has happened a few times or more, but when you're hungry, you can't seem to get them in your mouth fast enough.  So for National Potato Day, I suggest you grab a bag of these sticks and try them out, carefully of course.

National Seafood Bisque Day! Product Review: Olde Cape Cod GarlicShrimp & Tomato Bisque

Wanted to celebrate by making my own from scratch, but had a busy day.  Had to settle for picking up a can at Payless.  So killing two birds with one stone.  I celebrate and do a product review at the same time.

I had high hopes for this bisque.  I've had bisque at restaurants before which set my standards high.  This came nowhere near them.  It tasted like watered down tomato soup.  It had chunks of tomatoes and bits of garlic.  It also had this dark colored meaty bits, I assumed were supposed to be shrimp.  They tasted more like ground beef.  At almost $5 a can, I could have used the money to buy a bowl of real soup at a restaurant.  I rated it at -1 out of 5 plates.  In a two word summary: Never Again.  Happy National Seafood Bisque Day!

Product Review: Rockstar Iced Peach Tea

I was looking for my usual energy drink at a store that I don't usually shop at, when this caught my eye.  I'm a fan of Rockstars and iced tea.  So naturally I thought this was going to be my new favorite. When I opened the can, the smell of peach was instant. The first sip was the only good one. It is non-carbonated, unlike the regular Rockstars, but it still somehow managed to have the same burn effect on my tongue and throat. There was also an unpleasant after taste from the peach flavor that got worse and worse with every sip. It contains a few B vitamins and about 240 mg caffeine, and coming in at only 20 calories for the whole can, is a big plus. I felt a noticeable energy boost about 20 minutes after I drank it and lasted about 3 hours with no crash. Overall, I would rate this as a 2 out of 5, just because of the good energy kick that it gave me and how good the can looked and caught my eye. Unfortunately from what I've read online, this line of Rockstar has already been canceled. So get it now while you still can.
